More Inmate Art

July 11, 2010
From the blog administrator....the above illustrations are scans of original artwork Shannon sent to be posted. The top pic of the Geisha was done by Shannon in watercolor, and the three envelopes were done by a friend, Einstein. The top envelope done in graphite is particularly striking in its effects!

Dear blog administrator\shannon:

I have written to Shannon using the address on the blog, but not included my name and address on the envelope (but in the letter itself) as in th UK its not customary to do this. Please can you let me know if this will prevent my letter getting though.

Thanks,
Helen

Hello Helen,

The only thing you can really do is try. I am not sure. I return address all of my mail to prisons, but I'm in the states. I can let Shannon know you are attempting to send a letter. Give it a go and if you don't hear anything in a month or so, consider return posting if you really want to write.

Take care,
Sue (blog administrator)

Thanks, Sue.

I sent a letter last Friday so I will give it about a month as you say and then re-try.

It's great that you are administering this blog for Shannon.

Best wishes,
Helen

Helen, Prison rules in Arizona state that incoming mail must have a return name and address or else it will be returned. The fate of your letter now depends upon the mood of the mail officer, and his relations with Shannon. If it hits a bored mail officer that Shannon has had previous disagreements with, then expect it back in the post. It could be potentially classified as "suspected of containing drugs" due to the lack of return info. Drugs are sometimes smuggled in behind stamps and inside envelopes. Hope this helps.
